People who search for aesthetic candles already know the mood they want: a soft pink coquette shelf, a cottagecore corner with flowers, a calm beige room, a beachy bathroom, or a desi look with brass and marigold. Tip for photos: shoot in daylight near a window, unlit, then a second shot lit at dusk. Sculpted candles look their most detailed before the first burn, which is why many people keep one unlit as decor and light a second.

Looks we do not make

• Aesthetic scented jars in many fragrances: our only scented candle is Vanilla Reverie (Rs 549), vanilla in an amber jar with gold flakes. Scented-candle brands carry far more fragrances.
• Dark or gothic (black, deep red pillars, skulls) and bubble cube candles in many colours: look at home decor stores and marketplaces.
• Food-shaped novelty candles (cakes, coffee cups, fruit): some small makers on Instagram specialise in these.

Before you light a sculpted candle

Put it on a heat-proof plate, since the shape will soften as it burns, and keep it away from curtains, fairy-light wires and dried flowers. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave it unattended, and do not burn it for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
