Wedding gift for your sister and jiju: one gift for both of them, from her brother or sister, and when to hand it over

Give your sister and jiju one gift for the two of them: Heart Rope Candles (Rs 999 for 4, ships free) for their room, or Urli Candles (Rs 699) for the door of their new home. Add the Floral Candle Duo (Rs 649) if you want something that is clearly hers.

Key takeaways

  • The gift for your sister and jiju should be for both of them and their shared home
  • Heart Rope Candles (Rs 999 for 4) suit their room and ship free
  • Urli Candles (Rs 699) are a pair for the door of their first home
  • Give it at the pag phera or at their new home, not on the reception stage
  • Order two weeks before the function and deliver it to yourself

A gift for them, not only for her

When your sister gets married, you will give her many things on your own: the outfit you helped pick, the jewellery from the family, the hugs at the vidaai. The gift for your sister and jiju together is different. It is your welcome to him, and your blessing on the home the two of them are starting. So it should be for both, it should belong in their shared space, and it should not need a story to explain it.

Raajkosh hand-pours pure soy wax candles in Jalandhar. Two pieces fit that idea:

  • Heart Rope Candles, set of 4 for Rs 999: heart-shaped candles with a thick rope-weave rim, in taupe, butter yellow, sage green and dusty pink. For the shelf or the dressing table in their room. Four hearts, softly coloured, so jiju will not find them too pink.
  • Urli Candles, Rs 699 for the pair: flower-shaped bowls with a gold rim, gold-flecked wax and a yellow wax sunflower. One either side of the door or the mandir in their first home. A pair is the traditional shagun shape for a couple.

If you also want something that is hers alone, add the Floral Candle Duo, Rs 649: two sculpted peonies, deep rose pink and ivory with pink-tipped petals.

What the gift says, by who is giving it

You are Give Price What it says
her younger brother, still studying Urli Candles Rs 699 a grown-up gift from your own pocket
her younger sister Heart Rope Candles, set of 4 Rs 999 something pretty for their room, ships free
her elder brother or sister, earning Urli Candles + Heart Rope Candles Rs 1,698 one for the door, one for the room
all the siblings and cousins together Urli Candles + Shankh Candle + Floral Candle Duo Rs 2,147 a set for their mandir, door and dressing table

The Shankh Candle (Rs 799) in that last row is a cream shankh with pink wax lotus blooms, for the mandir shelf if they will set one up. Every combination above Rs 999 ships free; below that, shipping is Rs 79.

When to give it during the wedding

Wedding days move fast, and a sibling's gift can easily disappear into the pile. Pick the moment:

  • Not at the reception stage. Gifts handed up there go into a heap, and the card falls off.
  • At the haldi or mehendi, if jiju's family is not present and you want your sister to open it with you.
  • On her first visit home after the wedding, the pag phera, when she comes back with jiju. This is often the best moment: both of them are there, the house is calm, and you can give it in person.
  • At their new home. If they are moving to another city, ship it to arrive the week they settle in, with a note. You can add gift packaging and a gift note on the product page.

Writing the note to both of them

The note is where you welcome jiju. Address it to both names, his first if you want to make a point of it. One or two lines: "For your first home, from your saali" or "Didi and Jiju, for the door of your new house." If you want their names or the wedding date on the candle tags, that is a custom piece by enquiry on our custom orders page. Ask well before the wedding; custom pieces are not returnable unless damaged or wrong.

If you are looking for a gift for jiju on his own, our page on a gift for your brother-in-law covers that.

Other things siblings give the couple

  • Jewellery for her and a watch or a ring for him, often from the family as a whole.
  • A home appliance: a microwave, an air fryer or a coffee machine for their kitchen.
  • A honeymoon contribution: a night at a good hotel, or the flights.
  • Bedding and a winter quilt for their room.
  • A photo album or a framed picture of the two of you as children, for her new home.
  • Cash in the shagun envelope, given alongside whatever else you choose.

We make candles, not appliances or jewellery, so think of our pieces as the warm, personal gift that sits beside the bigger family present.

Ordering during the wedding rush

Winter weddings mean busy couriers from November to February. We dispatch in 24 to 48 hours, and delivery takes 2 to 7 days after dispatch, anywhere in India. Order two weeks before the function, have it delivered to your home, and check the estimate for your pincode. We cannot promise a delivery date.

Prepaid only (UPI, card, net banking or wallet through Razorpay); no cash on delivery. Request a return within 24 hours of delivery; damage reported in that window is replaced or refunded.

When they light them: heat-proof surface, never unattended, trim the wick to about 5 mm, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
