Planning a candle-light dinner at home

Restaurants make candle-light dinners look easy because they control the light. At home, follow three steps.

1. Turn the big lights off, completely

Candles only look romantic when they are the main light. Switch off the tube light and ceiling light; keep one warm lamp in a corner if you need to see the food.

2. Light the table, low

Put the Floral Candle Duo in the middle of the table, one at each side of a small plate of flowers. Keep candles low so you can see each other's faces, not a flame.

3. Draw a path or a shape with tealights

Ten Heart Tealights are enough to make a small heart on the floor, a line along the window, or a ring around the table. This is the part that makes it look planned.

How much do you need?

Scent: keep it to one candle

Food, flowers and perfume already fill a room. Several scented candles at once fight each other. If you want fragrance, light one Vanilla Reverie on a side table, away from the food, about half an hour before your partner walks in. Our other candles are not scented, which is why they work well on a dinner table.

Safety on a romantic night

This is the night people forget. Keep candles away from curtains, bedsheets, dupattas and rose-petal heaps, use a plate under each tealight, trim wicks to about 5 mm, and blow out every candle before you leave the room or go to sleep. Do not burn any candle for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
