Diya for pooja
If you want a neat, ready-to-light diya for your pooja room, our Diya Candles are Rs 449 for a pack of 6: terracotta-red diyas with a carved lattice rim, filled with hand-poured pure soy wax. They sit flat on a mandir shelf or a pooja thali and light in a second, with no oil to spill on the cloth or the idols.
One honest point before you buy. Many families light a ghee or til oil diya for aarti because the ritual asks for it. A wax diya does not replace that. Where a wax diya helps is everything around it: the extra diyas on the mandir steps, the ones you light on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the row for a havan or katha, and the diyas you keep lit while the family sits for the pooja.
Choosing a diya for the mandir
Ask three questions:
- What does your ritual need? For the main aarti, follow your family's practice (ghee, oil or wax). For decoration and extra light, wax is cleaner and simpler.
- How much space is there? A wall-mounted wooden mandir has a narrow shelf, so small diyas that sit flat are better than tall candles. A pooja room with a platform can take a larger centrepiece.
- What is the occasion? Daily pooja needs one or two diyas. Diwali, Navratri, griha pravesh or a Satyanarayan katha need a set.
Pooja diyas and pieces we make
| Product | What it is | Pack | Price | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Diya Candles | terracotta-red diya, carved lattice rim | 6 | Rs 449 | the mandir shelf, a pooja thali, the threshold |
| Shankh Candle | cream and caramel shankh vessel, gold-flecked wax, pink lotus blooms | 1 | Rs 799 | the centre of the pooja platform |
| Lotus Candle | layered lotus, green with red bloom or coral pink | 1 | Rs 349 | before Lakshmi ji or in the middle of a rangoli |
| Matki Candles | little red matki pots with a painted vine border | 4 | Rs 599 | the steps of a pooja platform |
| Urli Candles | gold-rimmed urli bowls with a sunflower | 2 | Rs 699 | either side of the mandir door |
The shankh and the lotus are the two pieces people choose for the mandir specifically, because both are symbols of pooja. The shankh is our most detailed piece and works as a centrepiece for Diwali or Lakshmi pooja. The lotus is smaller and sits easily in front of an idol.
Small mandir, big mandir: two simple set-ups
- A wall mandir in a flat: one pack of Diya Candles (Rs 449). Use two at a time and keep the rest for festival days.
- A pooja room for Diwali or a griha pravesh: Diya Candles plus the Shankh Candle, which comes to Rs 1,248 and ships free because it is above Rs 999.
If you also want a gift for your parents' mandir, the Shankh Candle on its own is a thoughtful choice.
Where else to buy a pooja diya
- Brass and silver diyas (akhand jyoti, panch aarti, kuber diya) are sold by puja stores, jewellers and online puja shops. We do not make metal diyas. Buy those where you can check the weight and finish.
- Clay diyas for oil or ghee are best bought from a local potter, especially around Diwali.
- Electric and LED diyas are useful for an akhand jyoti that stays on day and night. We do not sell them.

Safety in the mandir
Mandirs are often wooden and close to cloth, flowers and paper. Keep the diya on a metal plate or a heat-proof stand, away from the chunri and garlands. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave a lit diya unattended, and do not burn it for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.

Frequently asked
- Yes, many families use wax diyas for daily pooja and decoration. If your ritual asks for ghee or oil in the aarti diya, keep a clay or brass diya for that.
