Tea light candles online in India: three designer tealight packs, and when plain ones make more sense

Our tea light candles, in one look

We make three tea light candles, and each one comes as a pack of 10 in clear cups, hand-poured in pure soy wax in our Jalandhar workshop:

• Sunflower Tealights: Rs 449 for 10. Ivory wax, each cup topped with a small yellow sunflower.
• Daisy Tealights: Rs 449 for 10. Topped with daisies, in a mint and ivory set or a purple and ivory set.
• Heart Tealights: Rs 349 for 10. Ten red heart-shaped tealights.

These are "fancy" tea lights: the top of the candle is the decoration, so they look finished in a thali, on a step or in a row on a shelf, lit or unlit. If you only need light behind a glass holder, plain white tealights are cheaper, and we say more about that below.

Price of tea light candles: what you are paying for

Tea light prices in India fall into two bands, and it helps to know which one you are shopping in.

• Plain tealights in metal cups are sold in big packs (50 or 100) at a few rupees each. They are made to go inside a holder, where nobody sees the candle itself.
• Decorated tealights like ours cost more per piece, because each one is poured by hand and topped with a flower or moulded into a heart. All three of our packs work out to under Rs 50 a tealight, and the heart pack is the lowest.

So the real question is not "which is cheaper" but "will people see the candle?" On an open thali, a rangoli or a dining table, they will. Inside a lantern or a frosted glass holder, they will not.

Which pack to pick

A few quick rules that help:

• For Diwali, the sunflower pack sits well beside diyas and marigold. Mix it with our Diya Candles (Rs 449 for 6) for the mandir and the entrance.
• For a romantic set-up, use the hearts in a line or a heart shape on the table, not one or two alone. Ten in a row reads as a design; two look lost.
• For gifting, one pack in gift packaging with a note is a complete small gift. Two packs of 10 make a nice gift for a family.

How many tea lights do you need?

Count the places, not the candles. A typical flat might use 4 on the entrance steps, 4 on the balcony rail, 6 in the pooja corner and 6 on the dining table, which is 20, or two packs. Where else to buy tea light candles, and when that is the better choice

• Plain white tealights in bulk: supermarkets, home stores and large marketplaces sell packs of 50 and 100. That is the right buy if they will sit inside holders or lanterns.
• Scented tea lights: ours carry no added fragrance. If you want a scent in every cup, look at brands that make scented tealight boxes. Our one scented candle is Vanilla Reverie, a vanilla jar candle at Rs 549, not a tealight.
• LED tea lights: if you need light near children, pets or curtains, a battery tealight is safer. We do not make them.
• Wholesale: for a wedding venue or a shop, wholesale portals sell by the carton with a minimum order.

• We dispatch in 24 to 48 hours from Jalandhar, and delivery takes 2 to 7 days after dispatch anywhere in India. Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026, so order early and check the estimate for your pincode on the product page.
• Free shipping on orders of Rs 999 or more. Below that, shipping is Rs 79.
• Payment is prepaid only: UPI, card, net banking or wallet through Razorpay. There is no cash on delivery.

Lighting tea lights safely

Set each cup on a flat, heat-proof surface, a little apart from the next, and away from curtains, rangoli powder and loose dupattas. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave them burning unattended, and do not burn them for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
