Key takeaways
- The best pooja return gift goes to the guest's own mandir: a diya, a lotus or a shankh.
- Lotus Candle Rs 349, Diya Candles Rs 449, Matki Candles Rs 599, Shankh Candle Rs 799 (shop prices).
- Give one gift per family, after the aarti and prasad.
- From 10 gifts with your family name on the tag; under 10, buy from the shop.
A gift for their mandir, from yours
When you host a pooja at home, guests leave with prasad. Many families also give a small return gift, and the most fitting one is something the guest takes to their own mandir. A diya, a lotus or a shankh carries the pooja home with them.
Raajkosh makes all three as hand-poured soy wax candles in Jalandhar. For 10 gifts or more, we pack them with your family's name on the tag, with a GST invoice and delivery to your home. Ask for a quote at raajkosh.com/corporate and choose "Something else" as the occasion. For fewer than 10, buy from the Pooja and Mandir chamber in the shop.

| Pooja | Piece | Why | Shop price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Satyanarayan katha | Diya Candles, six terracotta diyas | The katha ends in aarti; guests light these at home | Rs 449 |
| Lakshmi pooja or Dhanteras | Lotus Candle, red or coral pink | Lakshmi's flower | Rs 349 |
| Mata ki chowki or jagran | Matki Candles, four painted pots | Bright and festive for a night of bhajans | Rs 599 |
| Sundarkand or Akhand path | Shankh Candle, conch with wax lotuses | The conch of the aarti, for elders and the pandit ji | Rs 799 |
| Any pooja, for close family | Urli Candles, gold-rim pair | For the entrance or the mandir shelf | Rs 699 |
Counting the families and the cost
A home pooja usually has 15 to 60 guests, and return gifts go one per family. At shop prices:
- 20 families with a Lotus Candle: Rs 6,980
- 30 families with Diya Candles: Rs 13,470
- 40 families with Matki Candles: Rs 23,960
The pandit ji and the eldest relatives often get a step up, such as the Shankh Candle (5 at shop price come to Rs 3,995). Your quote confirms the final price per gift with tags and delivery.
Etiquette that makes a pooja gift right
- Give after the aarti and prasad, at the door, from the hosts' hands. It is a blessing being shared, not a party favour.
- Keep it shubh. Red, yellow and gold colours suit a pooja; avoid black. The Lotus Candle comes in red with green leaves or in coral pink, and both read as festive on a mandir shelf.
- Married women first, in many families. If you follow the custom of giving haldi kumkum to the ladies, the diya set can go with it. We wrote separately about haldi kumkum return gifts.
- A tag line that names the occasion. "Shri Satyanarayan Katha, the Malhotra family" tells guests why the gift came.
- Do not light them during the pooja itself if you are using a ghee diya for the aarti; these are for guests to take home.
Other pooja return gifts families give
Common pooja return gifts include steel or brass plates and bowls, small brass diyas, idols of Ganesh or Lakshmi, coconuts with a red chunri, rudraksha or tulsi malas, packets of dry fruits, and small religious books such as the Hanuman Chalisa. Brass and idols are best from a puja store; books from a religious bookshop. A wax diya set is the lighter, no-oil option, easier for guests to carry home and light without topping up.
Ordering for the pooja
- Send the number of families (from 10, no minimum order value), budget per gift, pooja date, tag text and your address at raajkosh.com/corporate or WhatsApp +91 85958 24586.
- Get a quote with pieces, tags, timeline and price with GST. The lead time is confirmed in the quote. We cannot promise a delivery date, so ask as soon as the muhurat is fixed.
- Approve and pay. Prepaid, as set out in the quote; no cash on delivery.
- Delivered to your home, packed, with a GST invoice.
Personalised gifts are not returnable unless damaged, defective or wrong; report damage within 24 hours. For guests' safety, a tag line helps: trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave the diya unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
