Key takeaways
- One gift for every state, with the greeting changed by city
- Matki Candles Rs 599 recall the pongal pot; Sunflower Tealights Rs 449 the sun
- Deliver before people travel home for the holiday
- Pair a local sweet box with one lasting piece
One harvest festival, many names, one gift
In mid-January, the sun's move into Makara is celebrated almost everywhere in India, under different names. Tamil Nadu has four days of Pongal, with a new pot boiling over with rice and jaggery. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have Sankranti with Bhogi fires and muggu rangolis. Maharashtra shares tilgul. Gujarat fills the sky with kites for Uttarayan. Punjab lights the Lohri fire the night before, Assam has Magh Bihu.
For a company with teams in several of these places, the best gift honours the harvest without belonging to only one state. A shortlist:
- Jaggery, til and sweets: til ladoos, chikki, a pongal sweet box from a local sweet shop. The traditional gift, eaten within the week.
- A kite and manja kit for Gujarat and Rajasthan teams, from a local kite seller: fun, but only for those regions.
- A new clay pot and pongal kit from a local supplier, for Tamil Nadu teams who cook at home.
- A handmade piece that echoes the festival, from Raajkosh, Jalandhar: Matki Candles, Rs 599 for four little red pots hand-painted with a green and yellow vine, which recall the pongal pot and the harvest; Sunflower Tealights, Rs 449 for 10, wax sunflowers for the sun's festival; or Diya Candles, Rs 449 for six terracotta-red wax diyas for the doorstep beside the kolam. Shop prices; your quote confirms the final price.
- A small box: Matki Candles with Sunflower Tealights comes to Rs 1,048 at shop prices, for team leads or long-serving staff.
Picking a Pongal or Sankranti gift across states
- Use one gift and local words. Send the same piece everywhere, and change the card: "Happy Pongal" in Chennai, "Happy Sankranti" in Hyderabad, "Tilgul ghya, god god bola" in Pune, "Happy Uttarayan" in Ahmedabad, "Happy Lohri" in Punjab. That is what makes it feel local.
- Send it home before the holiday. Many employees travel to their hometowns for Pongal and Sankranti. Deliver to the office a few days before, or to the home address they will be at.
- Pair it with the sweets if you can. A local sweet box from each office's city plus one lasting piece from us covers both the festival and the memory.
- Remember the doorstep. Pongal and Sankranti mornings start with kolam and muggu. Wax diyas or matkis on the doorstep look right and do not need oil.

How a January festival order works with us
The terms on raajkosh.com/corporate, set out in full on our corporate gifting terms page:
- From 10 gifts, no minimum order value.
- Your logo on the gift tag, the note card or a wax seal; the festival greeting inside can change by city.
- GST invoice with your company's billing name, address and GSTIN.
- To several offices or to every home, anywhere in India, from one address list.
- Prepaid, as set out in the quote. No cash on delivery.
- The quote confirms pieces, branding, timeline and final price per gift. Early January follows the year-end courier rush, so ask in December; we do not promise a date.
- Branded gifts cannot be returned unless damaged, defective or wrong; report damage within 24 hours of delivery.
We are a new maker in Jalandhar, Punjab, hand-pouring every piece in pure soy wax. Read who makes our candles if you want to check us first.
When we do not fit your Sankranti
- You want sweets, sugarcane or a pongal kit. We make candles only; buy those locally in each city.
- Your team is only in Gujarat and wants kites. Give kites.
- You are ordering the week of the festival. A local seller is safer.
For the card: burn on a heat-proof surface, away from the kolam's flowers and kites, never leave it unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
