We make one jar candle, and we made it carefully: Vanilla Reverie, Rs 549. It is hand-poured vanilla-scented soy wax in an amber glass jar with a black screw lid, finished with gold flakes on top. It is handmade in Jalandhar and delivered anywhere in India.

What to check before you buy any jar candle

1. Wax. Many listings do not say. Vanilla Reverie is pure soy wax.
2. Glass colour. Clear glass shows the wax; amber glass looks warmer and more grown-up on a shelf. Ours is amber.
3. Lid. A lid matters if you light it once a week, not every day.
4. Fragrance. Pick a scent for the room: vanilla is soft and sweet, so it suits a bedroom or a living room rather than a kitchen.
5. The price you can see. Look for a clear price and pack size before you add to cart.

Burning a jar candle safely

Put the jar on a heat-proof surface; the glass gets hot. Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each use, never leave it burning unattended, do not burn it for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time, and let it cool fully before you put the lid back on.
