Holi gift hamper: a chest of colourful handmade candles for family and hosts, planned for MarchHoli gift hamper: a chest of colourful handmade candles for family and hosts, planned for March

Holi colours that stay after the gulal washes off

A Holi hamper usually means gujiya, thandai mix, dry fruits and packets of herbal gulal. All of it is gone by the evening. If you want a Holi gift that is still in the house in April, a chest of colourful candles does that job. On Raajkosh you build it in the gift chest builder: 3 to 6 handmade soy candles, then a chest style, a ribbon and your message, delivered across India.

Pricing: every piece is charged at its shop price, plus the chest style you pick. 4 or more pieces get 10% off the pieces. The builder shows the full price before checkout, so the figures here are pieces only.

Holi falls in March. If you are planning ahead for the next one, this page will still be here.

Three colour chests for Holi

Add the chest style on top. A fourth piece takes 10% off all four.

Gulal pastels is the most Holi of the three. The five spirals come one in each colour, ivory, pink, blue, yellow and navy. The four braided rounds are pink, blue, butter yellow and peach. The Blossom Candle is ivory with a ring of pink and yellow wax flowers. Line them up and they look like a thali of gulal.

Spring table is for the family that hosts Holi lunch: ten sunflower tealights and ten daisy tealights to run down the table, with the two sculpted peonies in the middle.

For the elders' puja suits grandparents and parents who do the Holika Dahan puja the evening before. The six terracotta-red Diya Candles hold wax instead of oil, and the lotus and sunflowers add the colour.

Who you are sending it to

• Your own parents, if you live away: the elders' chest, with a message about the Holi you remember from childhood.
• The friends hosting the Holi party: spring table. They will use it that afternoon.
• Relatives you visit every year: gulal pastels. It looks festive without being religious, so it suits every home.
• A couple's first Holi after the wedding: add the Heart Tealights at Rs 349 as a fourth piece.

Keep the candles indoors, away from the colour play

Holi is played outside, with water and powder. Candles belong to the other part of the day: the puja the night before, the lunch, the quiet evening after everyone has bathed. Tell whoever receives the chest to set it out once the playing is over, on a stable, heat-proof surface away from curtains, and to keep wet hands and gulal away from lit wicks.

What else a Holi hamper needs, and where to get it

We make candles and nothing else. Gujiya and sweets come best from a halwai near the family's home; herbal gulal and pichkaris from a local market or an online festive store; thandai mix from a grocery app. Many people send the food locally and the candle chest by courier, so the hamper arrives in two parts and nothing spoils on the way.

For a company sending Holi gifts to a team, there is a separate Holi gifts for employees page and a corporate quote for 10 gifts or more. Every other kind of chest starts on our gift hampers page.

Order early for March

Orders dispatch in 24 to 48 hours and arrive 2 to 7 days after dispatch. We do not promise a date, so order well before Holi and check the estimate for the pincode on the product page.
