Which flower candle fits your space

A flower candle is bought to be looked at as much as lit, so the right one depends on where it will sit. We make five flower designs, all hand-poured in pure soy wax in Jalandhar:

• Blossom Candle, Rs 299: a round ivory candle wrapped in pink and yellow wax blossoms. A shelf or desk piece.
• Lotus Candle, Rs 349: a layered lotus, green leaves with a red bloom or all coral pink. For the mandir or a rangoli.
• Floral Candle Duo, Rs 649 for 2: two peony-shaped candles, one deep rose pink and one ivory with pink-tipped petals. A gift, a bedside, a wedding table.
• Sunflower Tealights, Rs 449 for 10: ivory tealights each topped with a yellow sunflower. For rows.
• Daisy Tealights, Rs 449 for 10: tealights topped with daisies, in mint and ivory or purple and ivory. For rows with a pastel look.

One flower, or many small ones?

This is the first decision, and it decides the product:

• One statement flower looks best alone: the Lotus Candle in a mandir, the Blossom Candle on a bookshelf, the Floral Candle Duo on a side table. These are pieces people keep on display even unlit.
• Many small flowers make a pattern: a line along a window, a ring round a rangoli, a path to the door. That is a job for the sunflower or daisy tealights, ten to a pack.

Decorating with flower candles and real flowers

Flower candles look their best next to the real thing, as long as you keep fresh flowers away from the flame:

• Marigold with the lotus or sunflower tealights for Diwali and pooja. Petals in a ring, never touching the cup.
• Roses or gerberas with the Floral Candle Duo on a dining or bedside table, in a vase set a hand-span away.
• Leaves and greenery with the daisy tealights on a balcony ledge, which gives a garden look in a small flat.
• The Blossom Candle on a stack of books with a small plant, for a shelf that looks styled without much effort.

Dry flowers, paper flowers and potpourri catch fire easily. Do not put them next to a lit candle.

Flower candles as gifts

Flowers wilt; a flower candle stays. That is why the Floral Candle Duo is one of our most gifted pieces for her, and the Lotus Candle for parents. A Blossom Candle at Rs 299 is a small, cheerful gift for a colleague. The Floral Candle Duo with a Lotus Candle comes to Rs 998; with a Blossom Candle added to a pack of Daisy Tealights it is Rs 748.

What we do not make

• Rose-shaped candles specifically. Our peonies are the closest; rose candles are sold by gift shops and marketplaces.
• Floating flower candles for an urli or a water bowl. Wedding decor suppliers and candle wholesalers sell these.
• Flower-scented candles such as rose or jasmine. Our flower candles are shaped, not scented. Our one scented candle is Vanilla Reverie.

Buying and delivery details

Dispatch in 24 to 48 hours; delivery takes 2 to 7 days after dispatch, anywhere in India. Free shipping on orders of Rs 999 or more, Rs 79 below. Payment is prepaid only (UPI, card, net banking or wallet via Razorpay), with no cash on delivery. Gift packaging and a gift note are optional on each product page. Petals are delicate: if any piece arrives damaged, tell us within 24 hours of delivery for a replacement or refund.

Lighting a flower candle

Wax petals near the wick will soften and melt as the candle burns, which is normal. Stand the candle on a heat-proof plate, trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave it unattended and do not burn it for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time. If you would rather keep the flower shape, use it as decor and light a tealight beside it.
