Friendship Day is a group occasion, so plan for the group

In India, Friendship Day is kept on the first Sunday of August; the next is Sunday 1 August 2027. Unlike a birthday, it is rarely about one person. It is the school gang, the hostel wing, the cousins who are really friends. So the useful question is not "what do I give my friend" but "what can I give five friends that feels made for each of them, without spending a fortune".

Small pieces that work when you need five or eight

The cheapest way to share: Daisy Tealights come ten to a pack (mint and ivory, or purple and ivory) for Rs 449. Give each friend their own colour

This is what makes a group gift feel customised rather than bulk:

• The friend who only wears black gets navy or the light blue bubble.
• The loud one gets coral or haldi yellow.
• The hostel roommate gets mint, the colour of the walls you both hated.
• Put a one-line inside joke on each tag. Nobody outside the group needs to understand it.
• The friend who moved abroad gets hers sent to her parents' home in India, waiting for the next visit.

Friendship bands, and what to pair them with

Most groups still exchange friendship bands. A small candle with a name tag sits well next to one, and lasts longer on a desk than the band does on a wrist. If your gang lives in different cities, we can ship each gift to a different address only as separate orders, so pool the money and place one order per city, or ship everything to one friend who will be meeting the others.

Ordering in time, and paying

We never promise a delivery date. For custom name tags, enquire in June. For shop pieces, order in July and check the delivery estimate for the pincode on the product page; shop orders dispatch in 24 to 48 hours and arrive 2 to 7 days after dispatch. Payment is prepaid only (UPI, card, net banking or wallet); there is no cash on delivery, which suits a group that has already split the money on UPI.

Shop orders can be returned on a request within 24 hours of delivery. Personalised pieces cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged or wrong, so check every friend's spelling.

When to skip the candle

If the gang is in a college hostel that bans open flames, give the candles as desk decor or pick something else. For printed T-shirts, photo collages or matching keychains, a print shop or a photo-gift site does that better than we can.

If they do light them: a stable, heat-proof surface, never unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
