• Match the place. For the mandir, pick traditional shapes: diya, lotus, shankh, matki. For a living room, the spiral, braided and shell candles sit better with modern decor.

Why soy wax mombatti

Most cheap mombatti are paraffin, a petroleum wax. Ours are pure soy wax, a plant wax made from soybean oil, and each one is poured by hand into its mould in Jalandhar. That is how we get shapes like the carved diya rim and the layered lotus petals. If a little soy wax drips on a steel thali, let it harden, lift it off, and wash the rest with warm soapy water.

Lighting mombatti safely

Place every candle on a stable, heat-proof surface, away from curtains and dupattas. Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each use, never leave a burning candle alone, and do not burn one for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
