A wedding favour is the small thank-you that waits at each guest's seat, or goes into their hand as they leave. For a wedding in India, a hand-poured soy wax candle works well: it is pretty on the table during dinner, it fits in a handbag, and it is lit at home weeks later. What a favour costs for your guest list

At shop prices, for every 50 guests:

• Spiral Pillar Candle: Rs 8,950
• Heart Bubble Candle: Rs 12,450
• Heart Rope Candle: Rs 13,950

For 150 guests, multiply by three; for 300, by six. Many families split the list: a Rs 179 or Rs 279 favour for every guest, and the Floral Candle Duo for the 20 or 30 closest relatives. Your quote comes back with the exact pieces, the tag work and the final price per gift with GST.

Choosing a favour that suits your wedding

• Match the theme, not just the colour. A pastel day wedding suits the Heart Rope Candle in sage or dusty pink. A white and gold evening suits the ivory Spiral Pillar. A garden mehendi suits the Blossom Candle.
• Think about the seat. A favour on a plate should be small and stable. The Heart Bubble and Blossom candles sit flat; a spiral pillar is better handed over at the exit.
• Count the families, not only the guests. At Indian weddings, many hosts give one favour per family. That can cut a 300-guest list to far fewer favours.
• Do not light them at the venue. Many banquet halls and hotels do not allow open flames on tables. These are take-home favours.

Names and initials on the tags

For wedding orders, the tags can carry the couple's names or initials, in your wedding colours. If you want something more personal, such as each guest's name, ask in the enquiry and the quote will tell you what we can do for your date. We do not engrave candles; personalisation is on the tag. Personalised favours cannot be returned unless damaged, defective or wrong.

Other wedding favours families choose

Popular favours in India also include mithai or dry-fruit boxes, small potted plants, mini jars of honey or pickle, silver-coated coins, potli bags and printed fans for a summer wedding. Edible favours are gone in a day; a candle stays in the home a little longer. If your theme needs something we do not make, mix our candles with another supplier's favours, or keep ours for the family table.

Ordering your favours

1. Tell us the guest count (50 to 300), budget per gift, your wedding date, your colours, the tag text and whether it goes to one address or the venue.
2. Get a quote: pieces, tags, timeline and price with GST. The lead time depends on quantity and date and is confirmed in the quote. We cannot promise a delivery date, so ask well before the wedding.
3. Approve and pay. Prepaid, as set out in the quote; no cash on delivery.
4. Delivered packed, with an invoice.

Report any damage within 24 hours of delivery for a replacement or refund. A line for the tag: never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
