Useful return gifts for a wedding: what guests actually use at home, and where a candle earns its place

The most useful wedding return gifts are ones a family uses at the next festival or pooja: a set of six Diya Candles (Rs 449) or ten Sunflower Tealights (Rs 449), shop prices, so nobody buys diyas for Diwali. Made for 50 to 300 guests with names on the tags; quote at raajkosh.com/corporate.

Key takeaways

  • A useful return gift replaces something the guest would buy anyway.
  • Diya Candles (six) and tealight packs (ten) are Rs 449 each at shop prices, and get lit at the next festival.
  • Give one gift per household; 50 households of diya sets come to Rs 22,450 at shop prices.
  • Utensils are the most practical gift of all; pair one with a diya set if you like.

The test for a useful return gift

Ask one question about any shadi return gift: will this family use it within the next few months, or will it go into the cupboard with last season's gifts? Useful return gifts are the ones that replace something the guest would have bought anyway: utensils, a dry-fruit box for the house, a bag, or the diyas and tealights every Indian home buys for Diwali and pooja.

That last one is where Raajkosh fits. Our hand-poured soy wax Diya Candles (six per set, Rs 449) and tealight packs of ten, such as the Sunflower Tealights (Rs 449), are lit at the next festival, in the mandir or on a birthday table. No oil, no ghee, no mess. We make wedding return gifts for 50 to 300 guests with names or initials on the tags. Ask for a quote at raajkosh.com/corporate.

Useful pieces, and what each replaces

Shop prices; your quote confirms the final price per gift with tags and delivery.

Piece What the guest would otherwise buy Shop price
Diya Candles, six terracotta-red diyas Clay diyas and oil for Diwali Rs 449
Sunflower Tealights, ten with wax sunflowers A pack of plain tealights for festivals Rs 449
Daisy Tealights, ten in mint or purple with ivory Tealights for a thali or a dinner table Rs 449
Lotus Candle A candle for the home mandir Rs 349
Vanilla Reverie, vanilla jar with a screw lid A scented candle for the living room Rs 549

Matching the gift to your guests

  • Families with a home mandir: the Diya Candles or the Lotus Candle. Both are used at the next pooja.
  • Young couples and friends in flats: the Daisy Tealights or Vanilla Reverie. A tealight pack is used at dinner; the jar on a shelf.
  • Outstation guests flying home: give something compact and boxed, or send it after the wedding to their address. We can deliver to one address or to every address on a list.
  • Timing of the wedding: a winter wedding sits close to Diwali and the New Year, so diyas and tealights get used within weeks.
  • Elders of both families: a step up is the Urli Candles at Rs 699 shop price, a pair of gold-rim urli bowls that sit at the entrance or in the mandir and get lit at every pooja.
  • Children at the wedding: skip the candle for them. Give a chocolate or a small toy instead; candles are for the adults of the house.

The cost per family

Most families give one return gift per household, not per person. At shop prices, for 50 households:

  • Diya Candles or a tealight pack: Rs 22,450
  • Lotus Candle: Rs 17,450
  • Vanilla Reverie: Rs 27,450

For 150 households, multiply by three. Your quote confirms the final price per gift with tags and delivery, and can mix two pieces into one box if your budget per gift is higher.

Other useful shadi return gifts

Being honest about what else is genuinely useful: steel or copper bottles, stainless steel dinner sets or tiffins, kitchen towels and table linen, jute or cotton bags, potted plants, dry fruits and mithai. Utensils are the most practical of all and are best bought from a utensil wholesaler. Many families combine a practical item with a decorative one: a steel bowl for the kitchen and a diya set for the mandir.

How to order for the wedding

  1. Tell us the number of gifts (50 to 300 guests is our wedding range; corporate and bulk orders start at 10), budget per gift, wedding date, colours, tag text, and home or venue delivery.
  2. Get a quote with pieces, tags, timeline and price with GST. The lead time depends on quantity and date and is confirmed in the quote. We cannot promise a delivery date, so ask early.
  3. Approve and pay. Prepaid, as set out in the quote; no cash on delivery.
  4. Delivered with a GST invoice.

Personalised gifts are not returnable unless damaged, defective or wrong; report damage within 24 hours of delivery. For the tag: never leave a burning diya unattended, trim the wick to about 5 mm, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
