The grandchildren's names are the gift

Grandparents have kept most things they were ever given, and they rarely need more. What moves them is seeing the grandchildren's names together, or their own family title (Dadi, Dada, Nani, Nanu, Biji, Bauji, Ajji, Thatha) written by a grandchild. How to word it, by who is giving

From all the grandchildren: list every name, eldest to youngest, as the family says them: "From Aarav, Myra, Kabir and little Zoya". If there are many, the box is better than the tag; ask for that in the enquiry.

From one grandchild: "Nani, for your evening aarti. Love, Riya."

For their anniversary: both names and the years, for a 50th: "Bauji and Biji, 50 years".

For a 75th or 80th birthday: their name, the number, and a blessing they would say themselves.

Ask a parent to check the spellings and the family titles. In some families Nani is Nanima, in some Dadi is Amma, and grandparents notice.

Is a lit candle sensible for them?

For many elderly grandparents, yes, with care: a candle on a stable, heat-proof surface in the mandir, lit while someone is in the room. For a grandparent who lives alone, is unsteady on their feet, or tends to forget a flame, give it as decor only, or choose a different gift. Put a family member's phone number at checkout if your grandparents do not answer unknown calls. Payment is prepaid (UPI, card, net banking or wallet), so nobody asks them for money at the door. There is no cash on delivery.
