Which daughter is this for?

This matters more than the gift. A candle is a gift for a teenager or adult daughter, not for a young child. Candles are not toys, and our teddy candles, cute as they are, are made of wax with a wick. For a little girl, a personalised storybook, a name puzzle or a printed water bottle from a children's gift shop is the right buy. For a daughter who is 16 or older, going away to college, starting her first job in another city, or setting up her own home after marriage, a candle with her name on the tag is a small piece of home that goes with her.

The tag is a parent's message

What parents write to a daughter is different from what a friend writes. Keep it to one line and let it be yours:

• The pet name nobody else uses: "Gudiya", "Laado", "Princess", "Beta".
• "For your first room away from home."
• Her name and the city she is moving to: "Ira, Pune, 2026".
• For a daughter after her wedding: "Your Mummy's lotus, for your mandir".
• "From Papa", if he wants it to be his gift.

Spell her name the way she spells it now. Some daughters change the spelling at college, and they notice.

Before you send a candle to a hostel

Many hostels and PGs do not allow open flames in rooms. Ask her, or check the hostel rules. If candles are not allowed, the Blossom Candle and Teddy Gift Candle still work unlit, on a desk or a shelf, as decor that reminds her of home. Vanilla Reverie needs to be lit to give its scent, so choose it only if she can burn it safely.

Also confirm the hostel accepts courier parcels, and add her phone number at checkout.

Timing and delivery

Shop orders dispatch in 24 to 48 hours and arrive 2 to 7 days after dispatch, anywhere in India. For her birthday or moving day, order early and check the delivery estimate for her pincode on the product page. For a custom piece, write to us as early as you can; we confirm the timeline in our reply.

Gifts other shops do better

A name necklace or bracelet, a photo album of her childhood, an engraved watch for her first job, or a custom illustration of the family: jewellers, photo-book printers and illustrators do these well. Many parents give one of those and add a small candle with a note.

Payment, returns and her safety

Prepaid only: UPI, card, net banking or wallet; no cash on delivery, so she pays nothing at the door. Shop orders can be returned on a request within 24 hours of delivery. Personalised pieces cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged or wrong.

Tell her in the note: trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave it burning when she steps out, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
