Key takeaways
- Diya, lotus, matki, urli and shankh shapes carry meaning at a Hindu wedding.
- Lotus Candle Rs 349, Diya Candles Rs 449, Matki Candles Rs 599 (shop prices).
- Made for 50 to 300 guests in your colours, names or initials on the tags.
- A common plan: a lotus for every guest and a shankh for elders.
Favours that belong at a Hindu wedding
At a Hindu wedding, the return gift is more than a thank-you. Families like the favour to be shubh: something linked to light, to Lakshmi, to the home. A diya, a lotus or a little matki pot says that without a word. Raajkosh makes all three as hand-poured soy wax candles in Jalandhar, and we take wedding return gift orders for 50 to 300 guests, in your colours, with names or initials on the tags. Ask for a quote at raajkosh.com/corporate and choose "Wedding return gifts".
The traditional shapes we make
Shop prices per piece; your quote confirms the final price per gift with tags and delivery.
| Piece | Meaning for guests | Shop price |
|---|---|---|
| Lotus Candle | Lakshmi's flower; in red with green leaves or in coral pink | Rs 349 |
| Diya Candles | Six terracotta-red diyas with a carved lattice rim, wax instead of oil | Rs 449 |
| Matki Candles | Four little red matki pots with a hand-painted vine, a nod to the kalash and the courtyard | Rs 599 |
| Urli Candles | A pair of gold-rim urli bowls with a wax sunflower; for elders and close family | Rs 699 |
| Shankh Candle | The conch of the aarti, in cream and caramel with wax lotuses; for the pandit ji and the eldest relatives | Rs 799 |
Which shape for which part of the wedding
- After the pheras or at the vidaai: the Lotus Candle. Small enough to hand to every guest, and the lotus is right for a new beginning.
- For each family at the reception: the Diya Candles. A family takes six diyas home and lights them at the next Diwali or pooja, with no oil or ghee to top up.
- For the mehendi or haldi ladies: the Matki Candles. Painted pots feel festive at a daytime function.
- For grandparents, the pandit ji and the parents of the other side: the Urli Candles or the Shankh Candle, as a step up.
Per-family totals, worked out
At shop prices, for every 50 families or guests:
- Lotus Candle: Rs 17,450
- Diya Candles: Rs 22,450
- Matki Candles: Rs 29,950
For 100 families, double it; for 300 guests, multiply the per-50 figure by six. A two-tier plan is common: the Lotus Candle for every guest, and the Shankh Candle for 10 or 20 elders (10 at shop price come to Rs 7,990).
Getting the details right
- Colours. Wedding orders are made in your colours, confirmed in the quote. Red and gold is the classic choice; coral pink suits a day wedding.
- Tags. Names or initials of the couple on each tag. If you want a short blessing line or Hindi script, ask in the enquiry and the quote confirms what we can do.
- Packing for distribution. Tell us whether the gifts will be handed out by family members at the door or placed in rooms for outstation guests, so the quote can suggest packing.
- No flames at the mandap table. These are take-home favours. If you want candles for the mandap or decor, read our page on wedding candles for the mehendi and haldi.
Other traditional favours families give
Alongside candles, Hindu families give mithai boxes, dry fruits in a potli, steel or brass utensils, silver-coated coins with Lakshmi or Ganesh, small idols, and coconut with a cloth as a traditional shagun. Some families give one gift to the women of each family and another to the men. Our pieces fit as the lighter, decorative part of that plan; if you want a utensil or a coin, buy it from a specialist and pair it with a lotus.
Ordering for your wedding
- Share the guest or family count (50 to 300), budget per gift, wedding date, colours, tag text and delivery address (home or venue).

- Approve and pay. Prepaid, as set out in the quote; no cash on delivery.
- Delivered packed, with a GST invoice.
Personalised gifts are not returnable unless damaged, defective or wrong; report damage within 24 hours of delivery. Safety line for the tag: never leave the diya unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
