Gifts that travel well by courier without breaking: what survives an Indian parcel network, and what to ask before you ship

Gifts that travel well by courier are compact, solid and light: textiles, books and stationery, sealed packaged food, and solid shaped candles without glass. Glass, ceramics with thin edges, fresh flowers and anything heat-sensitive in summer need more care. Raajkosh ships handmade soy wax pieces across India and replaces damage reported within 24 hours.

Key takeaways

  • Compact, solid, light gifts travel best: textiles, books, sealed food, solid wax candles.
  • Glass, thin ceramics, fresh flowers and cakes need extra care or a local supplier.
  • Wax can soften in peak summer heat; plan long routes accordingly.
  • Raajkosh replaces or refunds damage reported within 24 hours of delivery, branded gifts included.

Six kinds of gift that usually arrive in one piece

An Indian courier parcel may be sorted three or four times, stacked under heavier boxes, carried on a two-wheeler and left in a hot van. Gifts that survive that tend to be compact, solid and light. In rough order of how forgiving they are:

  1. Textiles. Stoles, cushion covers, towels, T-shirts. Almost nothing can go wrong.
  2. Books, diaries and stationery. Flat, light, easy to pack. Corners can dent, but rarely badly.
  3. Sealed packaged food. Dry fruits, tea, coffee, boxed sweets with a long shelf life. Check the best-before date against transit time, and avoid anything with syrup.
  4. Solid wax candles without glass. A candle poured as one solid shape has no thin glass walls to crack. Wax can soften in real heat, so the risk is a hot van in May, not a dropped box.
  5. Metal and wooden objects. Brass, steel and wood pieces are sturdy, though polished finishes scratch if poorly wrapped.
  6. Small electronics in retail boxes. Built for shipping, as long as they stay in the original box.

Gifts that need extra care, or a different route

  • Glass. Jars, tumblers, terrariums. They travel fine with proper cushioning; without it they are the most common breakage.
  • Ceramics with thin edges. Cups and plates chip at the rim.
  • Fresh flowers, cakes and fresh sweets. Better from a local florist or bakery in the recipient's own city.
  • Plants. Possible, but they suffer in long transit and in heat.
  • Anything with delicate raised details. Thin petals, fine handles and loose decorations need a box that holds the piece still.

How to judge a gift's travel risk

Gift type Breakage risk Heat risk What to ask the supplier
Textiles Very low None How it is folded and sealed
Books and stationery Low None Whether corners are protected
Sealed packaged food Low Medium for chocolate Best-before date and packing in summer
Solid shaped wax candles Low to medium Medium in peak summer How each piece is held in its box
Candles in glass jars Medium Medium Whether the jar is cushioned on all sides
Ceramics and glassware High None How breakages are handled
Fresh flowers and cakes Not suited to courier High Use a local supplier instead

The last column matters more than the gift. Ask any supplier, in writing, how a damaged gift is handled and how quickly it must be reported.

Our candles in a courier box

Raajkosh makes hand-poured soy wax candles in Jalandhar and ships them across India, packed, in the words of our corporate page, "to royal packaging standards". Some pieces are naturally sturdier in transit than others, and it is fair to say so.

The compact, solid ones, at shop prices per piece (your quote confirms the final price per gift with branding and delivery):

Pieces that ask for a little more care are Vanilla Reverie (Rs 549, our one scented candle, in an amber glass jar) and the sculpted flower pieces with fine petals. They ship across India too; just know which is which when you choose for a long route.

If anything arrives damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery and it is replaced or refunded. That applies to branded corporate gifts as well, which otherwise cannot be returned.

Ordering gifts that have to travel

For 10 or more gifts, ask for a quote at raajkosh.com/corporate: your logo on the tag, the note card or a wax seal, a GST invoice, delivery to one office or every address on your list, prepaid as set out in the quote. The full terms are on our corporate gifting terms page. Shop orders dispatch in 24 to 48 hours and arrive 2 to 7 days after dispatch.

When a candle is the wrong thing to ship

If your gifts are going to very hot regions in peak summer and will sit in transit for days, choose textiles, books or sealed food instead. If the recipients work in offices that ban open flames, a candle is decor only, so pick another gift if that matters. And if the brief is a gadget or apparel, a gifting portal or merchandise printer fits better.

Ask before you ship

Tell us where the gifts are going and when at raajkosh.com/corporate, or WhatsApp +91 85958 24586, and we will suggest pieces for the route.
