Diwali gift basket and hamper ideas: a handmade chest of diyas, urlis and matkis for the family, priced piece by piece
For a Diwali basket that gets used on the night, fill a Raajkosh gift chest with 3 to 6 handmade soy pieces: Diya Candles Rs 449, Urli Candles Rs 699, Matki Candles Rs 599. A three-piece chest of those is Rs 1,747 for the pieces, plus the chest style. The site says "Order by 4 November for Diwali delivery".

Key takeaways
- Build a Diwali basket of 3 to 6 handmade pieces in one chest
- Diya, Urli and Matki come to Rs 1,747 for the pieces, plus the chest
- Four or more pieces get 10% off the pieces
- Add mithai and dry fruits locally; our chest holds candles only
A Diwali basket that is lit, not just eaten
The usual Diwali basket has dry fruits, a box of mithai, maybe a pair of clay diyas and a packet of rangoli. It is lovely and it is gone in a week. A basket built around light lasts longer: the family uses it on Lakshmi Puja night, and the pieces go back on the shelf for next year.
Raajkosh makes festive candles by hand in pure soy wax in Jalandhar, and you can put them into one box with our gift chest builder: choose 3 to 6 pieces, then the chest style, a ribbon and your message. Four or more pieces get 10% off the pieces. Each piece is charged at its listed price plus the chest style, and the builder shows the full price before checkout.
The Diwali pieces to start with:
- Diya Candles, Rs 449 for 6 terracotta-red diyas with a lattice rim. No oil, no spills.
- Urli Candles, Rs 699 for a pair of gold-rimmed flower bowls with gold-flecked wax and a wax sunflower.
- Matki Candles, Rs 599 for 4 little red pots hand-painted with a green and yellow vine.
- Shankh Candle, Rs 799: a conch with pink lotus blooms, for the mandir.
Basket ideas, from simple to grand
| Basket | Pieces | Pieces total | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entrance and steps | Diya Candles + Sunflower Tealights + Lotus Candle | Rs 1,247 | a family in a flat |
| The traditional three | Diya + Urli + Matki | Rs 1,747 | parents, in-laws |
| The mandir basket | Shankh + Lotus + Diya | Rs 1,597 | grandparents, a family that keeps a big mandir |
| The grand chest | Urli + Shankh + Matki + Diya | 4 pieces: 10% off the pieces | close family, a boss's home |
At three pieces you pay the shop prices shown. At four, the 10% comes off and the builder works out the total, so we do not quote a figure for that one.
Choosing by the home it goes to
A family with a big mandir will use the Shankh and the Lotus every day after Diwali, so lead with those. A couple in a small flat with a balcony will get more from tealights and diyas they can line up outside. Parents who decorate the entrance love the Urli pair by the door, where an urli of water and flowers usually sits. If you do not know the home well, the Diya Candles are the safe centre of any Diwali chest: everybody lights diyas.
What to tuck in beside the candles
Our chest holds only our candles. If you want the classic Diwali basket feel, give the chest alongside things you buy locally: a box of kaju katli or soan papdi, a small bag of dry fruits, a packet of rangoli colours, a brass bell. Many families hand over the chest with a mithai box from their own halwai, which keeps the sweets fresh and the basket personal.
If what you want is a ready dry fruit or chocolate hamper, gifting sites and premium sweet shops do those well and deliver fast in big cities. Choose our chest when you want the gift to be handmade and used on the night.
Timing for Diwali
The store banner reads: "Order by 4 November for Diwali delivery". Dispatch is 24 to 48 hours and delivery 2 to 7 days after dispatch, so check the estimate for the recipient's pincode on the product page. If the date has passed, the same chest works for Bhai Dooj or Dev Deepawali visits.
For a smaller budget, our page on Diwali gifts and small hampers under Rs 500 has single-piece ideas. Companies sending baskets to staff or clients with a logo should use corporate gifting, from 10 gifts with a GST invoice.
Near me, delivery and payment
We have no shop, so there is no Diwali basket to pick up. We make everything in Jalandhar and ship across India. Every three-piece basket above crosses Rs 999, so shipping is free. Payment is prepaid only, by UPI, card, net banking or wallet; there is no cash on delivery. Damage reported within 24 hours of delivery is replaced or refunded.
Lighting them safely on the night
Set diyas, urlis and matkis on a stable, heat-proof surface away from curtains, torans and loose rangoli powder. Trim each wick to about 5 mm, keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours, and never leave lit candles in an empty room or where children and pets can reach them.
