Six office Diwali themes with a short buying list for each: Lakshmi's lotus (Lotus Candle Rs 349), terracotta village (Matki Candles Rs 599, Diya Candles Rs 449), haldi and marigold (Sunflower Tealights Rs 449), coastal shankh, pastel garden and a no-flame theme, shop prices.

Key takeaways
- Pick one theme and stick to it; that wins more office contests than spending more.
- Six themes: Lakshmi's lotus, terracotta village, haldi and marigold, coastal shankh, pastel garden, no flame.
- Each theme needs four or five pieces, from Rs 299 to Rs 999 at shop prices.
- Keep candles unlit on office floors unless your building allows flames.
Pick a theme before you buy anything
If HR has announced a Diwali bay-decoration contest, the team that wins is usually the one that chose a clear theme and stuck to it, not the one that bought the most. A theme tells you what colours to use, what to make by hand and what to buy. Below are six themes that work in an Indian office, each with a short list of Raajkosh hand-poured soy wax pieces (shop prices) and the rest you will find at a market.
Most office floors do not allow lit flames, so every theme here works with the candles unlit, as sculpted decor. For a team order of 10 or more pieces with a GST invoice, ask at raajkosh.com/corporate. The site banner says: "Order by 4 November for Diwali delivery".
Theme 1: Lakshmi's lotus
Pink and red, lotuses everywhere, a small Lakshmi charan (footprints) rangoli leading into the bay.
- Lotus Candle, red or coral pink, Rs 349. Three or four placed along the rangoli path.
- Shankh Candle, Rs 799, with its own wax lotuses, as the centrepiece.
- From the market: pink paper lotuses, red chunri fabric for the backdrop.
Theme 2: Terracotta village
Earthy reds and browns, jute, clay, a courtyard look.
- Matki Candles, four hand-painted pots, Rs 599.
- Diya Candles, six terracotta-red diyas with lattice rims, Rs 449. Two sets make a border.
- From the market: a jute mat, clay pots, a charpai-style stool if you can borrow one, dried grass.
Theme 3: Haldi and marigold
Yellow and orange, the colours of Diwali flowers.
- Sunflower Tealights, ten ivory tealights with yellow wax sunflowers, Rs 449. Line them along the desk partitions.
- Urli Candles, gold-rim pair with a wax sunflower, Rs 699, at the bay entrance.
- From the market: marigold torans and loose marigold for a flower rangoli.
Theme 4: Coastal shankh
For teams that want something different from red and gold: blues, sand and shells.
- Seashell Candles, sky blue and sand beige, Rs 899.
- Marble Seashell Candles, blue and terracotta marble, Rs 999.
- From the market: blue and white rangoli colours, real shells, a fishing net drape. Ties to the shankh of the aarti and to coastal Diwali traditions.
Theme 5: Pastel garden
Soft mint, purple and pink, for a modern, calmer bay.
- Daisy Tealights, mint and ivory or purple and ivory, Rs 449.
- Blossom Candle, pink and yellow blossoms, Rs 299.
- From the market: potted plants, pastel paper flowers, white fairy lights.
Theme 6: No flame, all glow
If your building is strict, make it the theme: every light is electric. Use LED diyas and fairy lights (we do not make these; buy from an electrical shop) and use our sculpted pieces purely as decor around them, such as the Matki or Urli Candles. Judges usually reward a team that turned a rule into an idea.
Budget, judging and ordering
A single bay with one theme rarely needs more than four or five of our pieces. At shop prices, a lotus bay with 4 Lotus Candles is Rs 1,396; a terracotta bay with 2 Diya sets is Rs 898 plus the Matki Candles at Rs 599. Shop orders of Rs 999 or more ship free; below that, shipping is Rs 79.
Judges in office contests tend to look at the theme, handmade effort, use of space and safety. Keep wires taped, keep candles unlit unless allowed, and keep walkways clear.
Split the work inside the team: one person on the rangoli, one on the backdrop, one on buying. Buy the candles first, because they arrive by courier, and the flowers last, from a market the evening before, so they are fresh on judging day. After Diwali, the candles go home with the team members, which is a nice end to the contest.
For a few pieces, order from the Diwali page; prepaid only, no cash on delivery, dispatch in 24 to 48 hours and delivery 2 to 7 days after dispatch. For many teams at once with a GST invoice in the company's name, ask at raajkosh.com/corporate. If you do light a piece where it is permitted, never leave it unattended and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
