An anniversary candle should feel like it is about two people. That is why our anniversary picks come in pairs or sets:

Who is the anniversary for?

This matters more than anything else, because a candle for a spouse and a candle for your mummy-papa are very different gifts.

Your own anniversary (1st, 5th, 10th)

You want something romantic but not childish. Flowers and hearts work; cartoon shapes usually do not, unless that is your joke together. Pairs are the theme: two flowers, two hearts, a set you light together at dinner.

Your parents' or in-laws' anniversary (25th, 40th, 50th)

They probably do not want hearts. They want something for the home, often for the mandir or the drawing room, that looks traditional and lasts on a shelf. Gold, brass-friendly and festive shapes are a safer choice.

A friend's or sibling's anniversary

One good piece is enough. Vanilla Reverie (Rs 549), our only scented candle, in an amber jar with gold flakes, is easy to give to any couple.

• Light them together. Plan a dinner at home and light the duo or the heart set at the start. A gift you use that night means more than one that stays in the box.
• Write the note. The product page lets you add a gift note. Mention the year: "Ten years, still lighting up the room."
• Pair with something personal. A printed photo, a handwritten letter or their favourite mithai next to the candle.
• For parents, think of the evening. The Urli Candles can be lit on either side of the mandir when the family does an anniversary pooja.

If you want something we do not make

• Personalised candles with names or dates printed on them are made by custom candle studios and gift shops. We do not print names.
• Number candles (for "25" or "50" on a cake) are sold by bakeries and party stores.
• A range of romantic scents (rose, jasmine, oud) is better found at a fragrance-led candle brand.

• Prepaid only, through Razorpay. No cash on delivery.
• You can ship straight to your parents' address with a gift note.
• Damage reported within 24 hours of delivery is replaced or refunded.

Safety

Put candles on a stable, heat-proof plate, away from flowers and table linen. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave them burning unattended and do not burn them for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
