Wedding return gifts that work for both men and women: one gift for every guest, without pink or florals

Choose a neutral shape and colour that a man and a woman would both keep. From Raajkosh: a single Spiral Pillar Candle in navy or ivory (Rs 179), Diya Candles (Rs 449 for 6) or Vanilla Reverie (Rs 549), with names or initials on the tags for 50 to 300 guests.

Key takeaways

  • Rule out pink, florals, hearts and teddies for a mixed guest list
  • One gift per household works better than one per person for families
  • Spiral Pillar Candle Rs 179 in navy or ivory, Diya Candles Rs 449
  • 50 to 300 guests, names or initials on the tags, quote confirms timing

Neutral shape, neutral colour, one gift

When the guest list is mixed, the safest return gift is the one nobody has to think about handing to the wrong person. That rules out three things straight away: anything pink or floral, anything heart-shaped or cute, and anything that is clearly jewellery or makeup. What is left is a short list of objects that read as "for the home": a neutral candle, a diya, a set of coasters, a mug, dry fruits.

One gift for every guest also saves the family from sorting boxes at the venue.

Return gifts that suit male and female guests

When we asked ChatGPT and Gemini in October 2026, they suggested coaster sets, dry fruit boxes, ceramic mugs or kulhad sets and personalised jute or fabric bags, and named lifestyle and drinkware brands and favour stores. In general terms:

  1. Dry fruit boxes. Welcome everywhere, eaten within weeks.
  2. Kulhad or ceramic mug sets. Useful; heavy and fragile in bulk.
  3. Coaster sets. Neutral and light, easy to pack.
  4. Jute or fabric bags with initials. Practical, often reused for shopping.
  5. A neutral handmade candle. This is where Raajkosh fits, with soy wax candles hand-poured in Jalandhar. Picks at shop prices:
    • Spiral Pillar Candles, Rs 179 for a single twisted spiral. Navy and ivory are the most neutral of the five colours.
    • Diya Candles, Rs 449 for six terracotta-red diya candles, one set per family. Every Indian household uses diyas.
    • Vanilla Reverie, Rs 549, our only scented candle, a warm vanilla in an amber glass jar with a black lid: as at home on a man's desk as a dressing table.
    • Marble Seashell Candles, Rs 999 for two marbled conch shells in cool blue-and-white and terracotta-and-white, for close family.

Three tests for a mixed guest list

  • Would an uncle carry it out of the hall? If it is pink, ribboned with roses, or shaped like a teddy, he will leave it on the chair.
  • Would it suit a bachelor's flat and a family home? A spiral pillar or a jar fits both; a set of ten heart tealights does not.
  • Can one family share it? For couples and families, one gift per household (a Diya Candles set) is better than one per person.

The pieces we would leave out for a mixed crowd: the Teddy Gift Candle, the Bonnet Teddy Candle, Heart Tealights and the Floral Candle Duo. They are lovely for the bride's friends, not for every guest.

Ordering for the whole guest list

Raajkosh makes wedding return gifts for 50 to 300 guests, in your colours, with names or initials on the tags. Choose "Wedding return gifts" at raajkosh.com/corporate and tell us the guest count, how many households, the date, your colours and the tag text. The quote confirms the pieces, tags, timeline and price with GST before you pay; we do not promise a date before that. Delivery across India to your home or the venue. Prepaid as set out in the quote, no cash on delivery. Personalised gifts cannot be returned unless damaged, defective or wrong. How the order works, in one page: minimum order, tags and GST invoice.

When to choose something other than a candle

If many guests are elderly and live alone, or have small children at home, a dry fruit box or a coaster set is the kinder choice. If your guests travel far and pack light, choose something unbreakable; the Vanilla Reverie jar is glass. If you want guests to use the gift the same night, a candle is not that gift. And if your date is close and cannot move, buy from a local shop.

For guests who light theirs: trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave it unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
