The date, and how much time a custom piece needs

Mother's Day in India is kept on the second Sunday of May. The next one is Sunday 9 May 2027. Shop pieces dispatch in 24 to 48 hours, but a personalised piece is made after we agree the details with you, so start the conversation early.

Raajkosh is a small maker of hand-poured soy wax candles in Jalandhar. A personalised Mother's Day candle from us means three things, by enquiry on our custom orders page:

• A colour that means something to her. We work in ivory, white, red, pink, coral, blue, navy, yellow, mint, purple, green, gold, terracotta, cream and pastels.
• Her name, "Maa", "Mummy" or "Ammi" on the gift tag, or a short message.
• A fragrance, if you describe one she loves. Only one of our shop candles carries a scent today, so for anything else this is part of the custom request.

We reply with what we can make, a timeline and a price. We do not print photos or engrave.

Finding her colour

This is the part only you can do, and it is what makes the gift personal. Ask yourself:

• What colour was her wedding saree, or the one she wears to every family function?
• What colour is the mandir cloth she changes every festival?
• Which shade does she always pick for the house: haldi yellow cushions, mint curtains, a coral dupatta?

Ready pieces, if you would rather not wait

When you live in another city

Many people searching for a personalised Mother's Day gift are sending it home from Bangalore, Pune, Dubai or a hostel. That is how we work anyway: no shop to visit, delivered across India to her address. Some practical points:

• Put her phone number at checkout so the courier can call her, not you.
• Payment is prepaid only (UPI, card, net banking or wallet), so she is never asked to pay at the door. There is no cash on delivery.
• Write the gift note in the language she reads first. A line in Hindi or Punjabi lands differently.
• Order early and check the delivery estimate for her pincode on the product page. We do not promise a date.

If she would rather have a saree

If she would prefer a saree, a kitchen appliance, a photo album of the grandchildren or a printed cushion, those come from saree shops, appliance stores and photo-print sites, and some of them deliver on the day in your city. If her eyesight or memory is not what it was, give the candle as decor and keep it unlit.

Returns, and lighting it safely

Shop orders can be returned on a request within 24 hours of delivery. Custom pieces cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged or wrong, so check the spelling of her name before you approve. If she lights it: a stable, heat-proof surface, never unattended, trim the wick to about 5 mm, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
