Handmade, personalised, or both: where to look for each

Handmade and personal are two different things. Handmade is about who made it. Personal is about who it is for. The gifts people remember usually have both. When we asked ChatGPT and Gemini this question in October 2026, they named these kinds of seller:

1. Craft marketplaces. iTokri and India Craft House were named for handloom, pottery and regional crafts from Indian artisans. Good for a friend who likes things with a story of place.
2. Personalised gift makers. Craftuzio, Zingy Gifts, GetBanaya and Wishs were named for name boards, caricatures, engraved and photo gifts. Good when the gift should carry their name or face.
3. Handmade boxes and keepsakes. Baksa by Ruchika was named for handcrafted boxes.
4. Gifting portals. IGP was named for personalised items with wide delivery.
5. Handmade candles. Raajkosh hand-pours every candle in pure soy wax in Jalandhar, Punjab. Pieces that suit a birthday:
   • Floral Candle Duo, Rs 649: two peony-shaped candles, deep rose and ivory with pink-tipped petals.
   • Blossom Candle, Rs 299: a round ivory candle wrapped in pink and yellow wax blossoms.
   • Teddy Gift Candle, Rs 599: an ivory teddy peeking out of a rose-ringed gift box.
   • Marble Seashell Candles, Rs 999 for 2: marbled conch shells with wax shells, pearls and gold stars.
   • Vanilla Reverie, Rs 549: our one scented candle, vanilla in an amber jar.

Making a ready-made piece feel like it was chosen for them

You do not always need a custom order. A ready piece becomes personal when the choice clearly points at the person:

• Their colour. Our Spiral Pillar Candles come singly in ivory, pink, blue, yellow or navy at Rs 179 each. Pick the one they always wear.
• A shared memory. Seashells for the friend from the Goa trip. A teddy for the cousin who still has her childhood one.
• Their age, in candles. Turning 25? Some people line up small candles to count a milestone; ten Heart Tealights (Rs 349) do a decade.
• Your handwriting. A note that names one specific thing you like about them is what turns any gift personal.

Asking for a custom candle with a name or colour

If you want the name on the gift itself, Raajkosh takes custom orders on the custom orders page for custom colours, fragrance and names. Tell us the idea and the birthday date, and we will tell you what we can make. We do not quote custom prices or timings in advance, because they depend on the design. Custom pieces cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged or wrong, so check the spelling twice.

For a birthday that is only days away, choose a ready piece instead.

A line for the gift card about the flame

If they light it: trim the wick to about 5 mm, use a stable, heat-proof surface, never leave it unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
