Gifts for a rewards and recognition programme: what to give at each tier, vouchers or physical gifts, and how to keep a stock ready

An R&R programme works best with three tiers: a small physical gift for spot awards, a better piece or voucher for quarterly awards, and a significant reward for the annual one. Physical gifts are remembered; vouchers are flexible. For spot awards, keep a stock of 10 or more handmade pieces in the office, such as the Raajkosh Blossom Candle (Rs 299) or Sunflower Tealights (Rs 449) at shop prices.

Key takeaways

  • Run three tiers: spot awards, quarterly awards and annual awards, each with a different kind of gift.
  • Physical gifts are remembered; vouchers give choice. Many programmes use both.
  • Keep a stock of 10 or more small gifts so spot awards are handed over the same day.
  • For annual top awards, a candle alone undersells the achievement.

Three tiers, three kinds of gift

Most rewards and recognition programmes in India have three levels, and each needs a different kind of gift:

  1. Spot awards and peer shout-outs (weekly or whenever earned). A small physical gift handed over on the day. Speed matters more than value.
  2. Quarterly or project awards. A better gift, a voucher, or points on a rewards platform. Value starts to matter.
  3. Annual awards (star performer, long service). A significant reward: a premium gift, an experience, a trip, or a large voucher, often given at a ceremony.

Gifts that work across tiers: points platforms and vouchers (flexible, no logistics), branded merchandise (cheap, often unused), experiences (memorable, harder to run), and handmade keepsakes (personal, remembered). Raajkosh makes the last kind: hand-poured soy wax candles from Jalandhar.

Vouchers or physical gifts

Vouchers and points Physical gifts
Flexibility The employee chooses You choose
Speed on the day Instant, by email Instant only if you keep stock
How it is remembered Spent and forgotten Kept on a desk or shelf
Works for remote staff Very well Needs home delivery
Feels like recognition Less so at small values Yes, if handed over in person

A common mix: physical gifts for spot awards, where the moment of handing over matters, and vouchers or points for the higher tiers, where choice matters.

Keep a stock for spot awards

The weakest point of most R&R programmes is the gap between the shout-out and the gift. If the reward arrives three weeks later, it no longer feels like recognition. The fix is a small stock in the office drawer.

Our corporate orders start at 10 gifts, so a manager or HR team can order 10 or 20 pieces with the logo on the tag, keep them, and hand one over the same day. Pieces that suit a stock:

Piece What it is Shop price Why it suits a drawer stock
Heart Bubble Candle Small bubble candle, white or light blue Rs 249 Compact, playful, for peer awards
Blossom Candle Ivory candle ringed with wax blossoms Rs 299 Cheerful and neutral
Sunflower Tealights Ten tealights with wax sunflowers Rs 449 Feels generous for a spot award
Vanilla Reverie Vanilla-scented candle in an amber jar, our only scented one Rs 549 Screw lid, travels home easily

Prices are today's shop prices with GST included. Your quote confirms the final price per gift with branding and delivery. At shop prices, a stock of 20 Blossom Candles comes to Rs 5,980.

For the quarterly and annual tiers

At the quarterly level, a two-piece box or a single larger piece works: the Shankh Candle at Rs 799, or Marble Seashell Candles at Rs 999. For annual awards, most companies give something bigger than a candle: a gadget, an experience or a significant voucher. A handmade box can sit alongside, with the award name and year on the tag, but it should not be the whole reward for a top performer.

How a programme order works

  • From 10 gifts, no minimum order value. Reorder as the stock runs down.
  • Your logo, and the programme name if you like, on the gift tag, note card or a wax seal, confirmed in the quote.
  • GST invoice in your company's name.
  • Delivery to one office or several offices across India, so each location can keep its own stock.
  • Prepaid, as set out in the quote.

When our gifts do not fit your programme

If your programme runs entirely on a points platform, or most staff are remote and want choice, use vouchers. If your offices ban open flames and the gift will be used at the desk, choose a plant or desk item. For annual awards, a candle alone undersells the achievement.
