Flower-topped tealights or plain ones: when the extra cost is worth it, and when plain wins
Flower-topped tealights are worth it where people look closely: a dining table, a pooja thali, a gift or a photo. Plain tealights win where you need many lights seen from far away, like balcony railings on Diwali. Raajkosh Sunflower and Daisy Tealights are Rs 449 for 10 in clear cups; mix one pack with plain ones for the rest.

Key takeaways
- Flower-topped tealights pay off where people look up close
- Plain tealights win for railings, steps and long rows
- Sunflower and Daisy Tealights are Rs 449 for 10, under Rs 45 a piece
- Heart Tealights are Rs 349 for 10, red hearts in clear cups
- Mix: decorated where guests sit, plain everywhere else
Worth it up close, not from across the street
A flower-topped tealight does exactly the same job as a plain one: a small flame in a cup. What you pay extra for is how it looks before and around the flame. So the answer depends on how close people will be:
- Worth it: the dining table, a coffee tray, the pooja thali, a rangoli centre, a bedside, a return gift, anything that will be photographed.
- Not worth it: balcony railings, staircase edges, a boundary wall, a long row on the terrace. From a few metres away nobody sees the flower, only the flame.
That is why the smartest Diwali homes buy both: a few decorated packs for where guests sit, and plain bulk tealights for the outline of the house. We wrote up the counts for that in how many packs for 100 tealights.
Decorated tealights we make, and what you get for the price
- Sunflower Tealights, Rs 449 for 10. Ivory soy wax in clear cups, each topped with a yellow sunflower. Yellow suits Diwali, haldi and pooja.
- Daisy Tealights, Rs 449 for 10. Topped with daisies, in mint and ivory or purple and ivory. Pastel, for birthdays, baby showers and spring tables.
- Heart Tealights, Rs 349 for 10. Not flower-topped: the tealight itself is a red heart, in a clear cup. For dates, anniversaries and Valentine's.
All are hand-poured pure soy wax, made in Jalandhar. The clear cup matters: the flame lights the cup, and the decoration is visible from the side, not just from above.
Flower-topped versus plain, point by point
| What you care about | Flower-topped (ours) | Plain bulk tealights |
|---|---|---|
| Looks unlit | yes, decor on its own | a white disc in foil |
| Looks lit, up close | flower glows in a clear cup | a plain flame |
| Looks lit, from far away | the same as plain | the same |
| Price per piece | under Rs 45 | much lower, sold in big packs |
| Wax | pure soy, stated | check the listing; many do not state it |
| Good as a gift | yes | no |
| Good for 100+ lights | costly | yes |
How to decide in one minute
- Count the lights people will see from a chair. Buy that many decorated, usually 10 to 20.
- Count everything else. Buy plain for those.
- Pick one colour story. Sunflower for festive yellow, daisy for pastels, hearts for romance.
- If it is a gift, always choose decorated. A plain pack looks like a household refill.
Who else sells each kind
For plain and value packs, AI assistants named IKEA and Nanki, and big marketplaces such as Amazon. For decorative tealights they named sellers such as Aavero Celebrations and Flama Terra. If you need many plain tealights or a particular scent, those are good places to look. If you want a small pack of hand-poured soy tealights with a flower on top and a stated price, that is what we make.
