Eid gifts that feel generous, shareable and right

Eid is a festival of hosting. Families open their homes, cook sheer khurma and biryani, and give Eidi to children. A company gift for Eid works when it adds to that table and that home, and it goes wrong mostly in small, avoidable ways: alcohol, food that is not halal, a gift sent to someone who is fasting with a note that says "enjoy".

A shortlist of appropriate Eid gifts, by who it is for:

1. Dates and dry fruits from a dry fruit seller or a gifting portal: the classic, always welcome, and shareable with family. Suits employees and clients alike.
2. An iftar box during Ramadan from a local caterer or sweet shop, sent in the last week before Eid: thoughtful for a Muslim colleague who is fasting.
3. Attar from a traditional perfumer: a personal, respected Eid gift for a client you know well.
4. Getting an Eid gift right

• Know which Eid. Eid ul-Fitr ends Ramadan and is the main gifting Eid; Eid al-Adha follows about two months later. Both move about 11 days earlier each year, and the exact day depends on the moon. Aim for delivery two or three days before the expected date.
• Keep the motifs neutral. Avoid Hindu religious symbols on an Eid gift. Our diya, shankh and lotus pieces belong to Diwali; for Eid choose the tealights, the vanilla jar or the shells.
• Food must be clearly halal. If you add sweets or savouries, buy from a seller who says so. Never send alcohol or anything with gelatin you cannot vouch for.
• Send to everyone or to Muslim staff? Both are common. Many companies send an Eid greeting to all, and a gift to colleagues who celebrate, at home, so it reaches the family.
• Write "Eid Mubarak" and mean it. A short line from the manager by name beats a printed corporate greeting.

• Branded gifts cannot be returned unless damaged, defective or wrong; report damage within 24 hours.

When we are not your Eid supplier

• You want a food hamper. We make candles only; a dry fruit seller or hamper company will put together dates, nuts and sweets.
• The recipient is fasting and you want something for iftar. That is food, from a local caterer.
• The gift must arrive on the exact day. Eid's date is set by the moon sighting, often confirmed the evening before. Order early or use a local seller.

For the card: burn on a heat-proof surface, never leave it unattended, keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
