Diwali gifts for relatives: one plan for every household, from nani's house to the cousins, with exact costs
Diwali gifts for relatives work best as one plan: a better piece for the elders, one standard gift for each household, something small for cousins. With our soy candles that is the Shankh Candle (Rs 799), Diya Candles (Rs 449 for 6) and the Lotus Candle (Rs 349).

Key takeaways
- Plan relatives in tiers: elders, households, cousins
- Shankh Candle Rs 799 for elders, Diya Candles Rs 449 per household, Lotus Candle Rs 349 for cousins
- Four households with Diya Candles cost Rs 1,796 and ship free
- Order to your own address and carry gifts when you visit; separate orders for other cities
- The store's banner says order by 4 November for Diwali delivery
Plan the relatives in tiers
Diwali gifting to relatives is less about one perfect gift and more about a list: nani and dadi, the chacha and mama households, the bua who visits on Bhai Dooj, the cousins who now have their own flats. The stress comes from treating each one as a new decision. The families who handle it calmly do it in tiers:
- Elders get the nicest piece.
- Each household gets the same standard gift, so nobody compares.
- Cousins and younger relatives get something small and fun.
Hand-poured soy candles from our Jalandhar workshop fit this neatly, because every household lights something on Diwali night:
| Tier | Our pick | Price each | Why it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elders | Shankh Candle | Rs 799 | a conch with lotus blooms, for their mandir |
| Each household | Diya Candles, pack of 6 | Rs 449 | terracotta diyas, lit on Lakshmi puja night |
| Each household, a step up | Matki Candles, pack of 4 | Rs 599 | hand-painted red matki pots for the entrance |
| Cousins | Lotus Candle | Rs 349 | a single piece that looks finished without a box |
Working out the cost
Write the list first, then multiply. For a typical family:
- Two elder households with the Shankh Candle: Rs 1,598.
- Four aunt and uncle households with Diya Candles: Rs 1,796. With Matki Candles instead: Rs 2,396.
- Four cousins with the Lotus Candle: Rs 1,396.
Each of those orders is above Rs 999, so it ships free. Order to your own address, then carry the gifts when you visit, along with the sweets. That is the cheapest way.
If a relative lives in another city and you will not visit, place a separate order to their address with a gift note. Each order goes to one address, and an order under Rs 999 pays Rs 79 shipping, so a single Diya pack sent alone costs Rs 449 plus Rs 79.
If you need 30 or more of one piece, message us on WhatsApp at +91 85958 24586 before ordering so we can check stock. We are a small handmade brand, not a wholesaler, and we do not offer a bulk price.
Timing for Diwali 2026
Diwali is Sunday 8 November. The store's banner says "Order by 4 November for Diwali delivery". If you visit relatives on Dhanteras or Choti Diwali, order early enough to have the gifts in hand. Dispatch is 24 to 48 hours and delivery 2 to 7 days after that; check the estimate for your pincode on the product page.
Keeping it fair and easy
- Same gift per tier. Two chachis comparing notes is how Diwali feuds start. Give households the same pack.
- Match the household, not the person. A diya pack serves the whole family's puja.
- Label before you leave home. Tie a tag with the family's name on each bag so the right gift reaches the right door.
- Sweets plus light. Most relatives expect a sweets box. Putting a candle pack on top makes it feel chosen rather than bought at the corner shop.
What else families give relatives at Diwali
Sweets and dry fruits remain the standard. Other common choices: a silver coin or small silver item for elders on Dhanteras, steel or copper kitchenware, a decorative thali, a set of clay diyas with oil, a rangoli kit for families with children, chocolates for cousins, or clothes for the elders. For silver and brass, a jeweller or pooja store is the right shop; we make soy candles only. If a relative loves fragrance, our only scented candle is Vanilla Reverie, Rs 549 in an amber glass jar.
Ordering, briefly
- Free shipping from Rs 999; Rs 79 below.
- Prepaid only (UPI, card, net banking or wallet through Razorpay). No cash on delivery, so relatives receiving a parcel never have to pay.
- Gift packaging and a gift note can be added on the product page.
- Damage reported within 24 hours of delivery is replaced or refunded; cancel free before dispatch.
On the tag for elders, a simple safety line helps: keep candles away from puja cloth and flowers, trim the wick to about 5 mm, never leave them unattended, and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
