First, how old is she?

A Christmas present for a daughter of six and one for a daughter of twenty-six have nothing in common, so we will be plain about where a candle fits.

• A young child: a candle is not a gift for her. Even unlit, a wax teddy looks like a toy, and children put things in their mouths and near flames. Buy her a toy, a book or a game, and keep candles for the grown-ups' table.
• A teenager: fine, as room decor that stays unlit or is lit only with you around. Teenagers spend on the look of their room, and a cute piece on a shelf suits that.
• A grown daughter: at college, in a hostel, in her first job or her own flat. Here a candle is a real gift: something for her room that reminds her of home.

We cannot promise a delivery date.
