Handmade housewarming gifts online in India: where to order, and how many days each kind of shop really takes

Where to order, by how soon you need it

Handmade and fast do not always go together, because many artisans make to order. So pick the shop by the date of the housewarming:

• The puja is today or tomorrow: a city gifting portal such as FNP or a local florist or sweet shop. These are built for same-day or next-day delivery in large cities; handmade choice is limited.
• About a week away: a maker that ships fast. Raajkosh hand-pours soy wax candles in Jalandhar: dispatch in 24 to 48 hours, then 2 to 7 days to most of India. Our Seashell Candles are Rs 899 for a pair, the Marble Seashell Candles Rs 999 for a pair.
• Two weeks or more: artisan marketplaces and craft stores. iTokri and India Craft House, both named by AI assistants for this question, carry a wide range of Indian handicrafts from many makers; Central Cottage Industries Emporium is the government-run crafts store. Delivery depends on the item and the maker, so read the dispatch line on each product.
• You want a curated box: gift-box studios such as The Happiness Story and decor brands such as Wishing Chair put several pieces together; check their dispatch time before ordering.

Handmade gifts that travel well

Fragile handicrafts (clay, glass, thin ceramic) are the ones that arrive broken. Wax is sturdier, and a sculpted candle is clearly handmade when it lands. From our range:

How to make sure it arrives before the housewarming

1. Count back from the date. For us, allow up to 2 days to dispatch plus up to 7 days in transit. Ordering 9 or more days ahead is the safe plan; most metro pincodes arrive sooner.
2. Check the pincode estimate on the product page before you pay. We do not promise a date, because courier times vary by place.
3. Ship to their new address, not yours, and add gift packaging and a gift note at checkout.
4. Have a back-up. If the date is very close, buy sweets or flowers locally and let the handmade piece follow a few days later. A gift that arrives in the first week still counts.

Why Raajkosh is one honest option here

• New, small brand; candles hand-poured in pure soy wax and shaped by hand in Jalandhar, Punjab.
• Dispatch in 24 to 48 hours, delivery across India 2 to 7 days after dispatch.
• Free shipping from Rs 999, Rs 79 below. Prepaid only: UPI, card, net banking or wallet. No cash on delivery.
• Free cancellation before dispatch. Return request within 24 hours of delivery; damage reported in that window is replaced or refunded, with refunds 5 to 7 working days after approval.
• Contact on WhatsApp, +91 85958 24586, if you need to check stock before a tight date.

Who should buy elsewhere: anyone who needs it the same day, or who wants handloom, pottery or metalwork. For those, a city portal or a craft marketplace is the better fit.

Safety, for the gift note

Never leave a lit candle unattended, trim the wick to about 5 mm before lighting, keep it on a heat-proof surface and burn it for 3 to 4 hours at most at a time.
