Start the hamper with one thing she will use

Most women's gift hampers in India follow the same pattern: a box or basket, something to pamper (bath and body), something to eat (chocolate, tea, dry fruit), something for her space (a candle, a mug, a small plant), and a card. Vanilla Reverie is our only scented candle: vanilla in an amber glass jar with a black screw lid and gold flakes. The others are decorative shapes with no fragrance stated, so the hamper does not end up with clashing scents if you add a perfume or a body lotion.

Picking the candle for the woman

Putting the hamper together

1. Choose a box that closes. Candles travel and store better in a lidded box than an open basket.
2. Put the heaviest item at the bottom and the candle in the middle, padded with shredded paper.
3. Keep food and candles apart with a divider or tissue so nothing transfers.
4. One card, handwritten. Two lines about why you chose these things.
