Candle gifts under Rs 500 in India: what to give for a birthday, a thank-you or a small surprise

Under-Rs 500 candle gifts, and who each one suits

Rs 500 is the budget for a friend's birthday, a teacher, a colleague, a thank-you or a "saw this and thought of you". When we asked ChatGPT and Gemini for the best candle gifts at this price (October 2026), they named a handful of Indian brands, mostly scented jars: EKAM, EKAA Candles and ESMY Home most often, plus Home Centre, Desi Tassels, SOSA (a Smoked Oudh candle came up), Asian Aura, Iris and Vayu Space. A small jar can look plain at this price, so here is a shortlist that mixes shapes and scents.

1. For a friend who likes pretty things: Raajkosh Blossom Candle, Rs 299. A round ivory candle wrapped in pink and yellow wax blossoms.
2. For someone calm or spiritual: Raajkosh Lotus Candle, Rs 349. A layered lotus, in green leaves with a red bloom or all coral pink.
3. For a colleague or a Secret Santa: Raajkosh Heart Bubble Candle, Rs 249, in white or light blue. Small, neat and not too personal.
4. For a younger sister or a new mother: Raajkosh Bonnet Teddy Candle, Rs 449. An ivory teddy in a blue bonnet and coat.
5. For someone who hosts: Raajkosh Daisy Tealights, Rs 449 for 10, in mint and ivory or purple and ivory. A gift they will actually use at the next dinner.
6. For a fragrance lover: a small scented jar from EKAM, EKAA, ESMY Home, SOSA or Iris, the names the engines gave. Our only scented candle, Vanilla Reverie, is Rs 549, just above this budget.

What makes a Rs 500 gift look thoughtful

• A shape beats a small plain jar. At this price a shaped candle looks like a choice; a tiny jar can look like an afterthought.
• Match it to the person, not the occasion. A lotus for someone who keeps a mandir, a teddy for someone who loves cute things, tealights for someone who entertains.
• Count the shipping. Many small brands charge shipping below a threshold. At Raajkosh it is Rs 79 below Rs 999, so a Rs 299 Blossom Candle arrives for Rs 378. If you are buying two gifts, put them in one order.
• Add a note. A handwritten line costs nothing and is what people remember.

The shortlist in one table

Two gifts in one order, still small

If you have two people to buy for, two of these in one order shares the shipping. A Lotus Candle and a Heart Bubble Candle come to Rs 598; a Blossom Candle and a single Spiral Pillar Candle to Rs 478. Ship both to your own address and hand them over.

Safety for the gift note

Never leave a lit candle unattended. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, burn it on a heat-proof plate and keep each burn to 3 to 4 hours.
