Candle brands in India

There is no single "best" candle brand in India, because brands are good at different things. It is more useful to know the four kinds of brand and pick the kind that matches what you want:

1. Fragrance-led brands (Iris is one of the best-known Indian names) if scent choice matters most.
2. Home decor stores (such as Nestasia) if you want candles that match cushions, vases and tableware.
3. International mall brands (such as Bath and Body Works) if you want big multi-wick scented jars and seasonal fragrances.
4. Small handmade makers if you want a shaped, hand-poured candle you will not see in every home.

We are in the fourth group. Raajkosh is a new brand: we hand-pour pure soy wax candles in our workshop in Jalandhar, Punjab, and we sell on raajkosh.com. We do not have reviews or awards to show yet, so this page sticks to facts you can check.

How to judge any candle brand before you buy

• Does it say the wax? "Soy", "soy blend", "paraffin" or nothing at all. Nothing at all usually means paraffin.
• Does it show a real price and pack size before you add to cart?
• Are delivery and return terms written down? Candles can crack or melt in transit, so a clear damage policy matters.
• Does it say who makes it and where?
• Is it honest about scent? A candle that is shaped and decorative should not be sold as scented.

Every candle below is pure soy wax and handmade in Jalandhar. Only Vanilla Reverie is scented.

Our range is strongest in Indian festive shapes (diyas, matkis, urlis, a shankh, a lotus) and gift shapes (hearts, teddies, flowers, shells). If you want twenty fragrances, a fragrance-led brand will suit you better than we will.

"Luxury" and "premium": what you are paying for

With most brands, a higher price buys one or more of: a heavier glass vessel, a designer fragrance oil, more wax, a box and the brand name. With handmade shaped candles, the price follows the handwork: a plain spiral pillar is Rs 179, while a shankh with hand-placed lotus blooms is Rs 799.

Safety, whichever brand you buy

Trim the wick to about 5 mm before every use, burn on a stable, heat-proof surface, never leave a candle unattended and do not burn it for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time.
